What do you get when you combine (barely) surviving a family wedding, a new job, a dead dog, four rounds of content edits and the possibility of a new contract with a new publisher for a new book? One tired writer and a whole lot of empty space on her blog. I apologize! Thanks to my readers for their patience!
For those of you who’ve emailed me to check on the status of “Crazy Like Me,” thank you! Never fear, it’s well on its way to print and may even be out before its anticipated release in summer, 2015. It’s amazing how much Katherine and her crazy crew have evolved over the course of the edits. I’ve grown to love their quirks even more than when I initially invented them. While my editors have encouraged me to begin writing the sequel to “Crazy Like Me,” which will be titled “Her Kinda Crazy,” I’ve actually been spending more time working on another manuscript. I intend to finish this novel during National Novel Writing Month with NANOWRIMO – the group that first helped me to finish “Crazy Like Me.” For other writers interested in writing into the wee hours alongside other writers, check out www.nanowrimo.org. I’ll be sure to see you there. My current manuscript is called “Wave to Papa.” The following is a brief, very rough, synopsis: Dawn Winchester stands on the courthouse steps holding her toddler son, Noah. The boy is shy and bruised. It’s the second time they’ve stood together like this after Noah’s father has “had an accident” while watching him. But this time, the media wants answers and a lynch mob is coming straight for Dawn – a self-described ‘good Christian’ woman now at risk of losing a second child. Dawn must decide whether or not to believe her husband and stand by him; despite the serious allegations against him. Scared and alone, she must ask herself: At what point is an accident only an accident and when is it time to step up and protect your child? I’m having a blast writing this novel and have to admit that I’ve been very tempted to throw Katherine in as Dawn’s therapist. However, for the sake of “Her Kinda Crazy,” I’ve refrained. Be sure to check back on the status of “Her Kinda Crazy” and “Wave to Papa” as I should have some big news soon. Thanks again for your patience, everyone! To my fellow writers – catch you in Nanoland!
